Bio, Philosophy and Mission

Traci Valentine, M.A., M.Ed.

Traci's area of focus is on individuals, couples, parent/adolescent relationships, life stage transitions, stress management and sexuality concerns. She has a Masters degree from Argosy University-TC in Marriage and Family Therapy.  She is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and a member of the Minnesota Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT). She also holds a Masters degree in Education from Saint Mary's University, in addition to a teaching license. She is certified in Chemical Use Assessment Rule 25 criteria and PREPARE/ENRICH. She utilizes Health Realization and Narrative Therapy in her practice. She emphasizes that when a client is living in a secure state of mind they will be able to locate solutions to any problem encountered.

I provide therapy services for individuals, couples, families, adults, and groups. I also lead positive esteem, healthy sexuality support groups, and couples empowerment and revitalization workshops in addition to the PREPARE/ENRICH.

I have experience working with the issues of empty nest syndrome, grief and loss, problems related to incarceration, and sexual issues that may interfere and contribute to disturbances in relationships. I practice from a collaborative stance. My philosophy of therapy incorporates Health Realization, Solution Focused and Narrative Therapy to create openings and generate conversation for stories to be told and solutions to be found. I also utilize family of origin genograms, role-playing, and psychoeducation into therapy sessions.

Philosophy

I seek to provide a warm supportive atmosphere where individuals can express their feelings, communicate their problems, and feel understood. It is my belief that all persons should be accepted for who they are and I recognize and encourage each individual's potential for change and growth.

Mission

To work together with individuals, couples and families, by helping them to feel understood while empowering them toward more effective patterns of thinking, feeling and interacting.
